| Q: |
Why is it better to know what is a competitive market price rather than the dealer's invoice price? |
| A: |
Most consumers don't know that there are typically two levels of "invoice price". The first is the level that dealers and manufacturers will share with the public and that are available through third party companies. The second is the true invoice price which the public will never see. Knowing the dealer's (first level) invoice price may tell you how much room there is to negotiate, but that information is irrelevant. Knowing how much dealers would be willing to sell a vehicle for is much more useful and helps you reduce or eliminate the time and effort spent comparison shopping and negotiating while still getting a bargain.
