Frequently Asked Questions For Buyers And Lessee's
(click on red triangles for answers)

GENERAL QUESTIONS:

  • How much do you charge for your buying service?

    • Please see our "fees" page for a complete breakdown.

  • Is there any kind of guarantee that the savings will be worth your fees?

    • Yes.

On new vehicles, our "50% of additional savings" payment option will give you such assurance.

For used vehicles, we research the market first to determine what kind of budget should be set. The cost of the research is covered in the deposit. If you don't like our recommendations, you can cancel the balance of the transaction without any penalty.

  • If I am paying your fees plus the price of the vehicle, am I not paying more overall?

    • Not with our approach. If both of us were paying the same price for the vehicle, then yes you would pay more. However, consumers pay retail, dealers pay wholesale, even if they are buying from other dealers. Therefore, by adding our fees to the price we pay, it still results in savings. For example, on a new vehicle if your best price is $25,000 and ours is $23,000, then you are saving an additional $2,000 at a cost of $499. You are ahead by $1501, that's a 300% return on investment. Many of our customers come to us just so they don't have to go through the car buying process. The savings are an added bonus.

  • Why do you charge the buyer instead of the dealer?

    • If we are paid by the dealer, then we don't work for you, we work for the dealer and are not able to negotiate the best price we can on your behalf. When we first started, that is how dealers wanted to do business with us - they would offer to split the profit if we could bring them serious buyers. However, we felt that was a conflict of interest. We chose instead to charge our fees upfront and pass on every cent negotiated back to our customer. The savings we typically achieve for our clients far surpasses the fees we charge.

  • Why are you able to get a better price than I can get?

    • Many types of businesses have two departments, retail for those who buy one here and one there, and a wholesale department for those who buy more frequently. The car business is no exception. Plus we have a dealer's license which means we have relationships and privileges that consumers cannot get.

  • Do I still get the warranty and any manufacturer incentives?

    • Absolutely. For new vehicles, we are a matchmaker. You will be buying from a franchised dealer and therefore get the full warranty and all incentives. For used vehicles, any remaining warranty still applies and we can also provide extended warranties if you wish.

NEW VEHICLE QUESTIONS:

  • Where will my new vehicle come from?

    • We will negotiate a price with a dealer local to you. If you have a preferred dealer, we can work with them if they are competitive. Our first priority is to deal with a local dealer and keep your business in the community. If they are not competitive, we can also get an alternate competitive price and let you decide how to proceed. If we have to go a little distance away, then we can often arrange to have the vehicle delivered to you.

  • I don't want to travel a great distance to have my vehicle serviced.

    • Not a problem, you won't have to. It can be serviced anywhere.

USED VEHICLE QUESTIONS:

  • If I buy a used vehicle with your help, how do I know it won't be a lemon?

    • The question is, if you don't have our help how do you know it won't be a lemon? On every used vehicle, we conduct a comprehensive independent inspection by a licensed mechanic and a thorough review of the Vehicle History to see if any red flags are raised of potential future problems. When you buy any used vehicles, even sometimes new vehicles, you could experience problems. However the extent of the upfront homework we do on behalf of our clients minimizes the chances.

  • What if I don't want the vehicle after you have made a commitment on my behalf?

    • We don't make commitments without your authorization to proceed. However, sometimes things happen like losing one's job. If you don't want the vehicle because there is a problem with it and the problem was our fault, we will find you a different vehicle without any penalty. If it is simply a change of heart, then you are committed to the full purchase. However, we also offer a service to help sell a client's vehicle and can try to find you a retail buyer.

  • Do I have to take care of getting the vehicle registered into my name or is that something you do?

    • We'll have it all arranged for you unless the vehicle you want is a private sale, in which case, you simply go to the licensing office. We can guide you through it.

  • Aren't auction vehicles junk? I thought auction vehicles were those that nobody else would buy.

    • It's true that there are vehicles that go through auction that are not so nice, however there are also many that go through that are in great shape. When you visit a dealership, chances are most of their vehicles were bought from the auction. The rest come from trade-ins. They simply clean them up to showroom condition and put them up for sale. Having said that, we have purchased many vehicles from auction that were in excellent shape and have needed no work to clean up. We will only send you information on vehicles that we believe are worth your consideration.

  • If I buy through auction, I'm concerned about buying the vehicle sight unseen?

    • We understand. Buying a vehicle sight unseen isn't for everyone. When a vehicle is sent to auction, selling dealers are bound by a code of conduct and disclosure that is arbitratable by the auction. In addition, the auction generates a condition report and takes pictures. If we felt that a vehicle was worth your consideration, we would send you the condition report and pictures. If you liked it, only then would we proceed further. However, if you are uncomfortable with buying sight unseen, then we can restrict our searches to local dealerships and private sales so you can see and test drive the vehicles.

  • If I buy a vehicle through auction, how can I be assured that it isn't a lemon?

    • Before bidding, we order a Vehicle History Report. If everything checks out, then we bid. If we win, we have the vehicle inspected by the auction for mechanical and structural problems. If there are major problems, we can back out. If there are minor problems, we can simply have them fixed. Although nobody can ever guarantee a problem-free used vehicle long term, manufacturer and extended warranties do play a part. The important thing is that we do our homework when buying any used vehicle. This will minimize the chances of problems.

  • What are the pros and cons of buying an auction vehicle through Automall Network?

    • The biggest advantage is the price, you will be paying the same price for the vehicle as any other dealer would. The biggest disadvantage of buying through auction is buying it sight unseen. This is an emotional barrier that some people have a hard time overcoming. However, we have been doing this for many years and know what to look for. That's why you're hiring us.

  • What if we have already found a vehicle we like and would like you to simply negotiate the deal for us?

    • We can certainly do that. We'll be happy to see if we can save you some more money. And if not, then we won't charge you.

IMPORTING QUESTIONS:

  • What are the advantages of importing a cross-border vehicle through Automall Network?

    • Our upfront research tells us whether importing is worthwhile. Because we are a licensed dealer, we can buy vehicles at the auction where possible, in which case there are no dealer markups built into the price. The homework we do ensures our clients are not inheriting someone else's problems. We take care of all the details so it is just as if you are buying through a local dealer. We can provide a third party warranty for vehicles where warranties are not honoured. For qualified purchasers, we may be able to assist with obtaining financing. And of course, we are really nice to deal with.

  • Can you import a new vehicle from across the border?

    • If you find a new vehicle dealer that will sell it to you, we can help with the logistics but we won't source new vehicles across borders as it violates dealer franchise agreements. There is often a good supply of almost new vehicles with low mileage that we can pick up through the auctions and our dealer network. Because depreciation is very high during the first year, these vehicles are often thousands of dollars less than new.
